Industries , businesses or institutions have a grid where there are a number of protection devices of low or medium voltage, such as breakers or fuses. These devices are necessary to isolate an electrical fault in the protected area, to limit the extent and also to protect one or more equipments, cables or conductors against breakage or destruction. It is important that these protection devices are well ajusted and coordinated between them, otherwise they may not be able to isolate the fault, although not limit its extent and even affect the protection of your electricity distributor. In addition, if the adjustment is too sensitive, they may unnecessarily trigger on trivial events. They also need to be adjusted so as not to cause breakage or destruction of the protected equipments in case of electric fault on them.

- detect and isolate an electric fault in their protection area;
- not definitely trip (lockout) in case of electric fault in the protection area of other protection devices located further downstream ;
- not trip on trivial events such as motor starting currents;
- adequately protect the protected equipments against breakage or destruction in the event of electric fault on them.
